Canada Boosts Immigration for Rural, Francophone Areas

Canada's Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced new pilots aimed at bolstering rural and Francophone minority communities. The Rural Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) will become permanent by fall 2024, with plans to add more communities. Additionally, a Francophone Community Immigration Pilot will launch, focusing on economic development and demographic enhancement in Francophone minority areas outside Quebec. These initiatives aim to address labour shortages and support local economies.

BC PNP Boosts Sector-Specific Immigration in Latest Draw

On March 5, 2024, the BC PNP issued over 155 invitations across tech, construction, healthcare, and education sectors, highlighting its strategy to fortify essential industries. The inclusion of 35 tech occupations underscores BC's innovation focus. Targeted invitations aim to alleviate labor shortages and stimulate sectoral growth. With draws planned regularly, BC ensures continuous opportunities for skilled professionals, with the next draw expected around March 12-13, 2024.

Ontario OINP Issues Over 2,000 Invitations for Healthcare Workers

In its latest draw, Ontario's OINP awarded 2,104 invitations to healthcare professionals under the Human Capital Priorities Stream, targeting those with CRS scores between 352 and 421. This action marks the third round in 2024, aiming to strengthen the province's healthcare sector. Successful candidates are poised for a substantial increase in their CRS scores, significantly improving their prospects for federal Express Entry selection.

Alberta's Latest PNP Draws Focus on Healthcare and Priority Sectors

On February 20, 2024, Alberta's PNP draw issued 33 invitations for permanent residency via its healthcare pathway, for profiles with CRS scores of 311+. Following draws in healthcare and construction, Alberta introduces a tourism and hospitality stream to tackle labor shortages. The province aims for over 10,000 nominations in 2024, focusing on essential sectors for economic growth.

Saskatchewan SINP Draw Invites Candidates Across Key Sectors

On March 7, 2024, Saskatchewan's SINP draw welcomed 35 candidates for permanent residency under its occupation-in-demand and Express Entry streams, targeting profiles with scores of 89+ in specific NOC codes. This marks the first SINP draw of the year, eagerly anticipated since December 27, 2023. The initiative caters to applicants both within and outside Canada, excluding certain NOC codes. With a minimum score requirement of 60, those eligible can submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) to Saskatchewan.
